Kensal Rise-based estate agents Mile has elated the students and staff of Kensal Green primary school Princess Frederica with two brand spanking new minibuses.
Mile has sponsored the school to lease two 17-seater minibuses which can transport the children to swimming lessons, the theatre and any other activities, including taking the choir and steel band to musical events. Previously the students had to walk or take transport to these places, but the new buses save valuable lesson time and enable even more of these worthwhile trips to happen!
‘Many of the pupils have weekly swimming lessons at Willesden Green sports centre and it could take 20 minutes for them to walk there. Now, they can travel in style – whatever the weather,’ says Mrs S Nettey, headteacher. ‘The buses are a real blessing and without the support of Mile, school children from Princess Frederica would not be able to enjoy so many activities and events.’
To add to this touching community tale, local reverends Oliver Ryder (St Mark’s church, Bathurst Gardens) and Graham Noyce (St Martin’s church, Mortimer Road) have agreed to be drivers for the buses, along with several members of staff.
‘Nothing gives us more pleasure than looking out the office window and seeing bus loads of kids going on an outing in a Mile minibus,’ says Marius Roff of Mile (Aw…! Feeling a little guilty for that cold-blooded stereotype of estate agents you were holding?). ‘We are very pleased to be working with Princess Frederica to improve educational opportunity for local school children.’
Mile have also stated: ‘We are very pleased and proud to be “platinum sponsors” of this immensely popular primary school and will continue our sponsorship in the years to come; after all, we know we are part of the best community in London and that’s something worth supporting!’
We certainly second that!
The school will make the buses available to other schools, charities and voluntary sector organisations.
