A match made in Paradise

Photobooth Out of Order and their modern vintage portraiture was all part of the fun at Kensal Flea

Have a cheeky peek at all the pictures taken by the marvellous photographic art concept as featured at the fourth Flea on Saturday on 12 November.

As ever, Jon-X and Rita, Photobooth’s quirky creatives, concocted an eccentric yesteryear-tinged set especially for the occasion. They transformed the karaoke room of boutiquey boozer Paradise by Way of Kensal Green and captured some of the characters taking part.

And having these encouragers of exhibitionism getting snap-happy at Kensal Flea was all thanks to the Lexi Cinema. In return for hosting the flamboyant photo sessions, the not-for-profit social enterprise accepted donations to its charity, the Sustainability Institute in Africa. And, rather delightfully, local make-up artist Natasha Devedlaka was on hand getting people ready for their close-ups.

‘For there is good news yet to hear and fine things to be seen, before we go to paradise by way of Kensal Green’

…so penned G K Chesterton in the final line of his poem The Rolling English Road

Indeed, we’re quite sure that Chesterton, he who wrote the very poem that inspired this eccentric inn’s name, would have thoroughly approved of this little burst of fantasy in W10.

Chesterton would have mightily approved. Read a fantastic essay recently about the wildness of domesticity…These photos would have been great illustrations for it!
